The Apostle's
Creed:
-
-
I believe
in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.
-
And in
Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the
Holy Spirit,
-
born of
the virgin Mary,
-
suffered
under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried.
-
He
descended into hell.
-
The third
day He rose again from the dead.
-
He
ascended into heaven
-
and sits
at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
-
From
thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.
-
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy
Catholic* Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of
sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life
everlasting.
-
Amen.

The
"Golden Rule" of Bible Interpretation:
Short Version: When the plain sense of Scripture
makes common sense, seek no other Sense.
Long Version: Take every word at
its primary, ordinary, usual meaning unless the facts of the
immediate context, studied in light of related passeges and
axiomatic and fundamental truths, indicate clearly otherwise."

Aviation is exciting, but there
are even more important things in life. Why not
log a little time on Spiritual matters for a
while?
Are you an
Non-Christian who is curious to know Christians
believe?
Are you a
Christian, but don't really know what you
believe?
Here is a good review of SOME of the
fundamental beliefs of the Christian
faith
.
"Christian" as defined here are "Fundamental Christians"
such as myself, who consistently take a Literal
interpretation of the Bible. What the Bible says we
believe.
The
Bible:
Christians believe the Bible
is the very Word of God written down on paper. God
"superintended" the writing of the Scriptures so that the end
product is word-for-word exaclty what God intended to be written in
the original manuscripts. God has promised to preserve His
word without error to all
generations. The Bible is the final authority for every
Christian.
God: Christians believe that there
is only ONE God. (Monotheism) All other gods
are either counterfeits or ficticious. He is the Creator and
Sustainer of all things. God is Omnipresent, Omniscient, Omnipotent,
Holy, Just, Eternal, Unchanging, and Love.
The
Trinity: Christians believe the ONE God of
the Bible has existed eternally in THREE persons - God the
Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. They are
Three-in-One. Difficult for finite humans to comprehend, but
if God is real, one would expect him to be beyond comprehension in
some ways. For example: The name "Elohim" in Genesis
which is the plural form of the word "God". (A collective
singular).
The Virgin
Birth: Christians believe Jesus Christ, was
conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary,
with no contribution from Joseph or any
other man. He was fully God and fully Man combined into
one person. He was "Incarnate Diety" meaning "God in
flesh".
The Miracles of Jesus:
Christians
believe the miracles of Jesus as described in the Bible really did
happen. They are historical fact. They endorse the fact
that Jesus was not merely a man, but was the God-Man, and also
the "Messiah" of Israel. The one promised by the
prophets.
The
Depravity of Man: Christians
believe that there is no human who is "good" or "righteous" in God's
eyes except for Christ Jesus. "There is none righteous no not
one." We are born in that sinful condition. For example;
you don't have to teach a child to tell a lie, you have to teach
them to tell the truth. God has declared the whole world
"guilty", and we would all be doomed to eternal punishment,
(which we deserve) had not God provided a way of escape.
The Death of Jesus:
Christians
believe in the "substitutionary death" of Jesus on the cross.
Jesus was the God-Man, who being without sin, voluntarily became
guilty of my sins, and the sins of the whole world. Every
crime, and every evil thought which has been committed.
The judgement of God fell on Christ. He took the punishment
which I deserved.
Salvation by Faith:
Christians
believe in salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. A
Christian is justified in God's eyes, not by our good works or
sincerity, but by Christ's good work on the cross. The
righteousness of God is "imputed" or "credited to my account" when I
place by trust in Jesus Christ. A Christian is declared
"righteous", and is "born again" by the Spirit of God. We are
"saved" by Grace, through Faith, plus nothing.
The Resurrection of
Jesus:
Christians believe
Jesus literally arose from the dead, bodily and spritually.
His heart began beating, his lungs filled with air, his nervous
system was restored, he got up and walked out of the tomb. The
resurrection is proof that Christ's death on the cross was
acceptable atonement for the sins of the world, in God's
eyes. As Christ is alive evermore, so those who are "in
Christ" will live forever more.
The Second Coming of Jesus:
Christians believe that Jesus Christ will return to earth some day
as he promised. His first advent was literal and his second will be
the same. He will come to judge the nations with a "rod of iron" and
set up the 1000yr Messianic Kingdom of peace on earth.
The Final Judgement:
Christians
believe there will be a final judgement day in which God will judge
the living and the dead. The books will be opened and every
secret thing will be revealed. Hitler, Stalin, and all the
other notorious criminals will be resurrected from the dead and
forced to stand trial for their crimes, along with any other person
who has not found forgiveness and pardon through faith in Jesus
Christ. These who have not had their names written down in the
"book of life" will face eternal punishment in the lake of fire.
(Which we all deserve, but need not experience).
The Eternal
State:
Christians believe that the
"righteous" (see above) will live with God on a new
Earth which God will create after this one is destroyed by
fire. "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes;
and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying,
neither shall there be anymore pain..."
