Take an intro
flight to see if flying is for you!
You will learn the
basics of how to do a pre-flight inspection, how the flight
controls work, and how to perform the basic flight maneuvers.
YOU will take the
controls on this 30 min. flight and fly the airplane under the
careful supervision of the flight instructor.
Total cost varies
depending on the airplane used. $30 for the
Instructor plus the cost of the airplane.

Private Pilot
The most popular of pilot
certificates. Allows the holder to fly most anywhere the
airplane will take you and carry as many passengers as the airplane
can safely hold. Day or night. Training can be done in
your airplane or by rental from local airports.
Costs vary greatly depending
on aircraft used for training.
Flight training consists
of:
The FAA requires a total of 40hrs of flight time before taking the final
checkride. The average person, however, needs between 45-55 hrs before they are ready.

II. For a Single Engine Airplane
Rating:
Total Time: 40 hours which consists of
at least-
A. Dual: 20 hours of flight training
with an instructor on the Private Pilot areas of operation
that includes:
3 hours of cross-country flight
training in a single engine airplane;
3 hours of night flight training in a
single engine airplane, that includes at least-
1 cross-country flight of over 100
nm. total distance; and
10 takeoffs and 10 landings with each
involving a flight in the traffic pattern.
3 hours of flight training by
reference to instruments in a single engine airplane; and

3 hours of flight training in a
single engine airplane within the preceding 60 days prior to
the practical test.
B. Solo: 10 hours of solo flying in a
single engine airplane on the Private Pilot areas of
operation, that includes:
5 hours of solo cross-country flying;
1 solo cross-country flight of at
least 150 nm. total distance with 3 points and one segment of
at least 50 nm. between takeoff and landings; and
3 takeoffs and landings at a
controlled airport.

need to:
Take a simple medical exam
Take a computerized knowledge test
Take a practical test with a local examiner.
While these may seem intimidating
now, through study and practice, these should be no
problem for most people.
